Course Description
This course teaches students about various materials and its basic properties for identification starting from wood, Sheet metal, bamboo, plastic, glass, ceramic et cetera. Also discovers how each and every material can be worked with to identify its texture and properties easily. In detail we talked about the emotions, how different materials are working and how as the sound designer and an emotional designer we can create emotions with different materials for different applications with respect to that context.
Goals
- Students will learn about the various materials and their basic properties for identification starting from wood, Sheet metal, bamboo, plastic, glass, ceramic etc.
- Each and every material has been discussed with pictures and real-time examples of how we use it in our day to day life.
- Some of the basic classification of the metals plastics and alloys have been explained with branches and sub-classification for real time usage as a product designer.
- Plastic and Sheet metal being predominantly used has been discussed in detail about alloys and normal sheet metal and polymers is classified into elastomers polymers thermoplastic polymers etc with real-time examples and pictures explained.
- Also about how different material evokes different emotions when people are perceiving it, people are touching it.
- These are called emotional materials and each and every emotion has been equated with each material and explained with pictures.
- Show examples of how many materials are able to create a different feeling when it is hard, soft, medium, rough, she has been shown with pictures and examples.
- As a designer you are able to evoke different emotions with materials making the choice and creating your own library to create your own unique design statement that makes you very distinct from other designers. Having the skill is very very important in the current trend.
