Course Description
Are you a student or a professional, or just interested in gaining practical knowledge of Green Hydrogen? Then this is the right course for you! This course, will cover several aspects of Hydrogen storage, compression, transport, and its carriers.
In this course we will discuss about Hydrogen storage techniques that include gaseous and liquid Hydrogen, the key challenges involved, and the economics of each process. Additionally, we will also discuss the compression of hydrogen and it's importance in the whole value chain, and emerging technologies.
Hydrogen is transported via trucks, Natural gas pipelines, and dedicated Hydrogen pipelines which will also be discussed. We will also cover the challenges and future initiatives taken by public and private entities worldwide for the Green Hydrogen economy.
Apart from this, we will also learn about Hydrogen derivatives such as Ammonia and Methanol and their potential to be used for Hydrogen transport.
The purpose of this course is not only to give textbook explanations of each topic but also to show the practical side to enable you to take technical and financial decisions in real-time industrial scenarios.
The course will cover the following topics:
Hydrogen storage, types of storage tanks, safety concerns of Hydrogen, storage in Salt caverns, and global Hydrogen projects.
Hydrogen compression, its main types, energy consumption in compression, emerging compression technologies, and key market players.
Liquid Hydrogen Transport, the liquefaction process, liquid Hydrogen storage and energy consumption figures, commercial LH2 shipping.
Hydrogen transport via pipeline, the material of construction for pipelines, a case study of LCOH via pipeline.
Hydrogen blending with Natural Gas pipeline, key blending challenges, separation/deblending techniques.
Hydrogen carriers and adsorbents, Green Ammonia production, key figures, global supply chain, Ammonia cracking, and its challenges, LH2 vs Ammonia case study, Green Methanol production, Global initiatives, and projects.
We will finish the course with a clear understanding of each process with all the advantages and challenges involved in each technology and the bigger picture of the Global Hydrogen economy.
By the end of this course, you will be familiar with the common Hydrogen storage techniques and their complications.

Abdul Salam
I am a chemical engineer with Energy major and working as a Hydrogen consultant in ILF Consulting Engineers in Austria. Before that, I have worked for 5 years in Portugal. I am involved in all the steps of the project from the concept development, supplier negotiations, technical design, and implementation of Green Hydrogen and Ammonia projects. I also had the chance of working on the technical design of Portugal's first ever molten salt storage project in Evora.
