IP Addressing & Subnetting - step by step

Being a computer science instructor, I found that IP addressing is one of the most intimidating topics that my students would encounter, yet somehow it's very simple once you really have a hold of what it truly entails.

I have designed the course to be as simple as possible so that everyone, including fresh entrants into computer networks, can understand. I have included a method of summarization, which most other courses do not have. I know this topic may not interest beginners all that much at first, but if you are going to get familiar with complex routing techniques, you should probably try a little summarization.

IP addressing is one of the core components of computer networking-it enables communication between devices, helps in transferring data, and supports the growth of the Internet. It ensures an identification number uniquely given to each device, aids in routing and forwarding data, provides network segmentation, supports a variety of network services, and allows the number of devices to scale. If it were not for IP addressing, there would be no internet like the one we know today; let's learn about it together!
