Course Description
Whats it all about?
Ever wanted to know what the kubectl methods do that you have just never had the oppertunity to use or learn. Well look no further than kubectl excellence. I deep dive into every method of the kubectl with real life examples. So if it is creating an ephemeral container using `kubectl debug` or using the kubectl set commands to speed up your commands for the exam, i've got your back!
So how does it work?
Well its simple every single lecture deep dives into each of the methods one by one. If the method cannot be explained in isolation i build up the nessary resources to make it work in a real life example. We will then typically tear down any resources we have used as clear up.
Who is this course aimed at?
The beauty of this course is that I feel it can satisfy the seasoned kubernetes developer who wishes to sharpen there skills and the new developer that is trying out the kubectl with kubernetes for the very first time.
We look at lots of different hidden techniques such as:
- Creating manifests automatically by using kubectl methods, dry run and output as yaml.
- Finding resources within the kubernets system
- Error debugging
- Combining kubectl statements to get one that can fulfil our needs
I don't just use the examples that are given by kubernetes, I try to go further and deeper by using arguments that have no example. This is where all the hidden jems are found.
Is the course documented?
![]() | Yes every lecture is fully documented as I don't want my students spending precious time trying to follow along with me. I also copy and paste the commands so that the content I deliver to you is not only accurate but is as short and concise as it can be. This course is 11 hours long so efficiency is everything. The git hub markdown documentation files for each lecture with commands will be made available to you in the documentation lecture. Each markdown file will have all of the commands used in the lecture and a summary of what the command does. All I ask is that you don't share these with people who have not subscribed to this course. |
Goals
After this course you should be:
- Able to use every method in the kubectl package
- Have a greater understanding of how kubernetes works
- Able to set up and run minikube on your local PC
- Able to run a k8s cluster in the browser
- Able to use kubectl to create your manifests quickly
- Give you time savings in your every day script development or in the ckad exam
Prerequisites
kubectl works on Mac, Windows and Linux machines, with this in mind you will need a reasonable machine if you want to run minikube.
If you want to use one of the browser command lines you will not need as much processing power.
The most important prerequisite you need is a willingness to learn. This is generally a pick up and drop reference course, so don't worry if you don't have time to complete every lecture, just pick up the ones that interest you the most and learn new skills that will help you work with kubernetes, smarter and more efficiently
