Course Description
You'll start with the basic principles of establishing a stormwater network, consisting of catchments, basins, pipes, junctions and outlets. You will gradually learn how to enter storm data into the model using IDF curves, evaluate network performance through network profiles and FlexTables, while also being able to recognize potential issues such as bottlenecks or flooding.
Subsequent exercises look at more complex modeling for tailwater conditions and hydraulic jumps, ultimately working all the way through a complete process by using ESRI Shapefile data. You will go through the step-by-step ModelBuilder wizard and rainfall data input, including TRex for extraction of terrain elevation, the validation of the design against performance constraints needed for the system you are designing.
The course has been designed for either those starting in hydrologic modelling or those wanting to review their know-how in stormwater design. Structured practical content through tutorials or downloadable material will provide clearly articulated next steps.
Goals
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:- Build and analyze stormwater sewer systems provided by Bentley OpenFlows tools
- Enter storm data, IDF curves, and evaluate various responses of sewer systems operating under various storm conditions
- Optimize stormwater networks for tailwater and storm-related hydraulic jumps
- Use ModelBuilder to import GIS data and build network schematics from them
- Use the TRex tool to apply terrain data for surface elevation
- Redesign storm system to fit the hydraulic and regulatory design constraints of your project.
- You'll learn how to build, analyze, and optimize storm sewer networks based on real data sets and modeling methods by completing three progressively advanced hands-on exercises.
Prerequisites
- No prior experience with Bentley software is required. Basic knowledge of stormwater systems or hydraulic principles is helpful but not mandatory.
