Course Description

The training gives a comprehensive introduction to Bentley OpenRail Designer and takes beginners through the full flow of rail design from producing accurate alignments to modeling complicated rail components. Participants will learn through a structured, hands-on approach leading to regression lines, speed and cant design standards, modeling sidings, and 3D rail systems designed to meet real-world specifications.
Delivering the course to civil engineers, students, and practitioners in infrastructure will provide participants with both the technical skills they need, and the context they need to connect to new industry trends, such as digital twin implementation and modern rail development workflows. It doesn't matter if you are a novice to rail design, or if you are an experienced engineer simply wanting to expand your level of expertise with Bentley tools, the course has both the essential theory, and the practical exercises that will help you succeed.

Goals

Upon completion of this learning experience, participants will be able to:
- Use Open Rail Designer to create industry standard rail design projects
- Create track geometry with regression data and curvature analysis
- Use speed tables and cant design to develop rail performance
- Design and model rail sidings that can be included in mainline networks
- Design and create 3D models of rail systems consisting of rail and sleepers
- Understand rail design best practices and apply best practices that conform to industry standards
