Primavera - The Foundation

Goals

The following are the goals of the course entitled “Primavera – The Foundation”:

Familiarize Oneself with Basic Concepts:

• Have a comprehensive understanding of principles and terminologies used in project management in relation to primavera.
• Learn the basic tenets of project scheduling, resource management and cost control.

Navigate the Primavera Interface:

• Become proficient at using the primavera interface with its main features, toolbars and menus.
• Customize workspace for enhanced productivity or to suit individual preferences.

Creation and Management of Projects:

• Find out how to create new projects in primavera including defining project parameters, calendars and workspaces.
• Learn how to enter and arrange project tasks, milestones and dependencies.

Preparation of Project Schedules:

• Acquire skills in making and handling project schedules such as defining tasks, setting durations as well as establishing task relationships.
• Be able to apply different scheduling techniques like critical path analysis or baseline scheduling techniques.

Resource Allocation:

• Comprehend ways of allocating and managing resources wisely such as assigning labor, materials, equipment etc., on different project tasks.
• Know how to balance resource loads or settle over allocations or conflicts.

• Basic knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle
• Basic knowledge of Software Engineering Operations
