Course Description
- The focus of the first part of the speaking test will be on improving rhythm, intonation, linking, stress, and vowel pronunciation in order to give a natural, clear repetition of the type of speech test-takers will hear on the test day. The goal is to also improve listening skills and recognize when the narrator in the exam uses these same elements of clear speech too in order to copy them.
- The second part will offer a framework and strategies for answering the prompts completely and with depth, including vocabulary depth and grammatical accuracy and complexity. Each question type will be discussed separately and include specific, unique approaches. This course combines elements of accent reduction training with time-tested framework and templates in order to provide learners with a unique and superior curriculum from an instructor, who was an ETS speaking rater for a decade and currently is an accent reduction coach.
Goals
- This course aims to develop speaking strategies for the new TOEFL iBT exam for 2026, integrate value words in order to deliver a high-scoring response, sharpen rhythm, intonation, and long vowel articulation, and form a framework and increase grammatical awareness to answer interview questions effectively.
Prerequisites
- No pre-requisites are required but familiarity with TOEFL-style assessment is useful.
